Join the Strøm train this weekend, when we are presenting the best from the electronic music scene with stops at both Click and Öresundsfestival.

First stop is in beautiful Helsingør, where we, together with wonderful Click and Wundergrund, present a lineup out of this world. We start from early afternoon and continues late into the night accompanied by the sound of William Basinski, Voices From The Lake, Anstam, Demdike Stare, Diamond Version, and last but definitely not least Squarepusher. Hard to be beat isn’t it? So hurry up and buy your ticket, before we get to the ‘we told you so!’

Saturday we’ll take good care of your Friday hangover at the next stop in our Swedish sister city Malmø. Together with Rust and Öresundsfestival we are hosting the best free for all chill out event at Folkets Park near the famous Debaser with some of our favourite local peeps. First man behind the deck is Thomas ‘Opiate’ Knak, followed by Lulu Rouge, Mike Sheridan, Carl Emil and our very own 2000F and Sven Francisco. The train leaves at 14.12 from Copenhagen Central Station and we expect to see you there!

Vesterbro truly came alive yesterday with the attendance of an immense amount of partygoers.
We cannot thank all of you enough for supporting Strøm to the fullest.

Reason Master Class With A Guy Called Gerald (Presented by Propellerhead):

Original 808 State member and both Techno/House/Drum’n'Bass innovator, Gerald Simpson, but known as  A Guy Called Gerald.
Taking cue from his own Sun Ra influences A Guy Called Gerald will host an an exclusive master class centered around his music production using Reason software and the importance of Sun Ra for electronic music of today.

Strøm in Enghaveparken:

Today brings us the second day of Enghaveparken transforming into Strøm’s HQ of two days of non-stop (almost) concerts.

FRIDAY MEANS FIRE!!!

First of all, once again a big thank you to all who came by yesterday despite the rain and other odd weather occurrences .
Friday sees Strøm taking off on an even larger scale with the opening of Enghaveparken and a breathtaking line-up.
There are so much going on today that it’s  hard, even for me, just to boil it down to a select few recommendations.
Anyway, here are my picks of what  to do on a promising Friday.

What to check:

Electrifying Denmark: Master Class with Henrik Schwarz and Octave One

The third and final installment in the Electryfying Denmark projects will be held @DR-Byen in the magnificent Studio 4.
Detroit legends and top notch guys Octave One will be joined by DJ extraordinaire Henrik Schwarz (check his stunning DJ-Kicks contribution). This master class provides a unique opportunity to gain exclusive insight into these inspiring artists thoughts as they share personal experiences comparing and contrasting live performance versus studio productions.

Audiofaktor with Bjørn Svin:

One of the most well-known electronic Danish artist and now residing in Berlin, Bjørn Svin, will be performing  a concert using
the Audiofaktor application, which is a touch screen-based intuitive virtual mixer residing at the Copenhagen Main Library.
Ahead of the concert Bjørn will be interviewed  by editor Niels Mark of Bibzoom.dk .

Strøm in Enghaveparken:

Among those performing today are Richie Hawtin (CA), Octave One (US), Henrik Schwarz (DE), Dub Phizix (UK) Feat. MC Strategy (UK) and Emika (UK), providing a full-scale look into the versatility of today’s electronic music.

Christania Radio Takeover

If you fancy energetic D’n'B vibes the  C.A.R.T guys are your best bet yet. Since 2009, the collective of djs and mcs based in Christania. have bombarded the Copenhagen airwaves with all things bass and  on their weekly radio show broadcast. Bring your best dancing shoes as this will turn into one stepping marathon!

What a Wednesday night!  Shouts out to everyone who came to party last night.
Today offers even more opportunities in terms of masterclasses, workshops and parties.
Heaps of stuff going on but here’s a small outtake of what you should attend.

What to check:

RBMA X STRØM: Detroit to Copenhagen Master Class with Mike Huckaby and Trentemøller 

For the first time in Denmark,  Detroit legend Mike Huckaby and
Copenhagen’s own Anders Trentemøller talk and share experiences about making and playing music. This is as unmissable as it gets!

The Modern Music Studio Workshop

The High End Tentacles staff  offers a glimpse of the the modern music studio. This  class encompasse how to let mix downs go from software to hardware and back again without losing audio quality, mastering the art of ‘summing’ and getting better results from mix downs, and learning how get the most from converters and production setup.

The BULK Rooftop Party 

For the first time BULK defy the darkness of which they were born and embrace  the sun. Inspired by the rooftop house parties of sunny Sonar Barcelona, this event will provide a breathtaking city view from the five hundred sq. meter rooftop and accompabied by deep Chicago House music  This is what you should be doing once you’re done working, crack open a cheap can of beer and enjoy the body music. It’s really a no-brainer.

Red Box Opening Party 

This marks the opening and first ever club night in the newest  Culture Box family member, Red Box. In other words this means two floors of full on party vibes.  Mike Huckaby from Detroit will be performing alongside renowned German producer, DJ and  resident dj at the acclaimed German club Harry Klein Dario Zenker.  Local  support by Trentemøller, Djuna Barnes and Kim Kemi.

WEDNESDAY IS WET AND WONDERFUL!

RBMA X STRØM: Sync ‘Em Up Music Production Workshop with Mike Huckaby and Tony Nwachukwu feat. Marilyn Mazur and Jan Bang:

Mike and Tony is joined by legendary percussionist, drummer, composer, vocalist, pianist, dancer and bandleader (that’ll do ya?) Marilyn Mazur, who was born in New York but has been living in Denmark since she was six years of age and musician, DJ and producer Jan Bang from Kristiansand. Marilyn Mazur and Jan Bang,  will demonstrate how to work with rhythms and combine improvisation and live sampling with structure and a common beat.

Artist Talk with Diplo: 

When he’s not bouncing in New Orleans with Sissy Nobby or making his debut as rapper with viral wonderboy and certified nutjob Riff Raff SODMG,  Diplo wreaks havoc as a solo artist and one half of Major Lazer.  For this master class, Diplo is at your disposal for an exclusive Q/A, so don’t be shy. He’s all yours, so take advantage of his experience and the advice he can give you in terms of dealing with the music business.

Red Bull Music Academy, the Copenhagen Metro and Strøm presents Trans Metro Express – The Headphone Edition: 

Trans Metro Express shuffle the cards and go silent. Headphones will this time be supplied  and  you’ll be able to enjoy the music, which once again comes from  Danish electronic artists Averos, Hors & Sekuoia, August Rosenbaum and CHLLNGR  who’ll be performing music composed specifically for Trans Metro Express.

Rystende Hånd Perfektion: Chicago’s Best Crack!: 

Legend alert ! Cornelius Ferguson aka Traxman makes his debut on Danish soil. A long-time serving DJ in his hometown of Chicago and making noise for himself in terms of production  since the the mid-90′s on Dance Mania, owned by eccentric extrodinaire Ray Barney, before resubmerging into obscurity again until he signed with the legendary Planet Mu stable. This party will literally be off the hook, so miss this at your peril.

RBMA X STRØM: Ableton from Top to BottomMusic Production Workshop with Mike Huckaby and Tony Nwachukwu:

Tony is joined by Detroit stalwart, Mike Huckaby who cut his teeth at Detroit’s legendary Record Time record store and delivered some tasty ‘deeper-than-thou’ House on Harmonie Park and Cross Section records back in the 90′s. History is all-important but the future is now and thus, Tony and Mike dive deep into the sonic possibilities of and in Ableton, sharing their invaluable expertise with you lot.

The ABC of Synthesizers Workshop: 

The High End Tentacles crew will make a rundown of the history of many a vintage synthesizer, the people who invented those historic machines and finally how to operate some of these beasts yourself. For this workshop High End Tentacles will provide a vast array of vintage synths, so you can try and test as you desire.

Electrifying Denmark: UNDERGROUND CROSSOVER MASTER CLASS: 

This could be the one odd out for some of you, but nonetheless it might prove very useful for the burgeoning /soon-to-be established producer out there. Imagine yourself tasting success rapidly, becoming a part of the international circuit in the span of a year. How to deal with it without losing your sound and integrity? Thomas Madvig, Rune RK and Noir share their own experiences and offer a useful piece of advice.

Electronic Music Service at Trinitatis Night Church: 

After all the talks and impressions you might want to soothe the ears and very fittingly the Trinitatis Night Church, located in inner city Copenhagen, from 19:50 – 23:00.offers what is described as ‘playful minimal to shoegazing soundscapes to noisy and manipulated dream rock’.

STRØM 2012 – IT’S ON!!!

Welcome to Strøm 2012, which also marks the sixth edition of the festival.
Today sees the initiation of a week filled with cultural offerings, workshops and having downright fun – it’s all there so use it! Starting from noon today is a veritable cornucopia of workshops held at Culture Box, which at the same time premieres 4 days of workshop mayhem around central Copenhagen.

RBMA X STRØM: Beat Programming and Sound Manipulation Music Production

Workshop with Tony Nwachukwu. The CDR Night boss and Attica Blues member returns with a valuable lesson in the core foundation of creating electronic music – beat programming and sound manipulation.

Insight: From Do-It-Yourself To Do-It-Together Crowd Funding With Manymade.

The people behind Nordic crowd funding platform Manymade, Majken Overgaard and Julie Hjort, will present the concepts of crowd sourcing and funding, which is a new way and direction for materializing independent projects, and how to take advantage of the opportunities they present.

Trans Metro Express:

Last not least the institutional Trans Metro Express yet again makes the wheels turning with the handpicked talents of electronic artists Averos , Hors & Sekuoia, August Rosenbaum and CHLLNGR, who perform music written specifically for Trans Metro Express live in a Metro train.

MORE TALENTS JOIN STRØM’S LINE UP

Great news everyone! Today we have added a few new artists to our already great lineup that will be playing on our stages in Enghaveparken and at the Inner City music venue Pumpehuset. In Enghaveparken, we present to you the Danish drum and bass producer Beastie Respond, the Copenhagen hip-hop trio Benal, the genre bending Thomas Bjerring, and the experimental electronic duo Mana Pool.

At Pumpehuset, Kill Your Telly and Cluster present a very special night with two world-class Romanian DJs, Petre Inspirescu and Dan Andrei. Kill Your Telly and Cluster will transform Pumpehuset into a warehouse club with visuals, one of Copenhagen’s best sound systems, and support from some of Copenhagen finest DJs – MHM One, Tine Valentin, and Almanzi.

STRØM ONLINE!

It’s been a hard day’s night, but now we are proud to finally present our brand new website, designed by the great Jón Ingi Hallgrimsson & Torsten Lindsø Andersen. But that’s not the only news we have for you today! We have also added a handful of the biggest, brightest and boldest stars on the Danish electronic scene to our program. Among others we have Mikkel Metal, Northern Structures and Pattern Repeat playing back-to-back live, and Kenton Slash Demon, Rangleklods and AEOEAA doing their things.
