Den Elektroniske Skolekoncert
Alternativ musikundervisning for skoleelever
The Electronic School Concert
Alternative music lessons for youngsters
An entire class of eleven year-olds was transformed into electronic musicians when Strøm School and Brønshøj School worked together in May 2015 to present a new concept in music teaching, culminating in The Electronic School Concert. The Electronic School Concert motivates pupils through enhancing communication, learning critical listening skills and practical musicianship, where an inspiring artist, in collaboration with a Strøm School teacher deliver an exciting new tuition package.
The program aims to create music producers in all students and encourages active participation across the classroom. Not just reserved for those with previous musical knowledge or experience, The Electronic School Concert is run from a classes everyday teaching room and is not dependent on specialist equipment. Every pupil receives an iPad loaded with exciting, intuitive software, they then form an ensemble where they devise, rehearse and ultimately perform their compositions. The pupils’ experience and understanding of electronic music is easily explored further due to the relative accessibility of the equipment. The only tools needed are a tablet and the skills the pupils ac- quire through the course of the project. The project culminates in a big concert for friends and family of the pupils, where they get a chance to show what they progression throughout the project.
