Free Autechre mix for download

Our heroes in AUTECHRE has just done a mix for Fact Magazine. Download it for free here - but hurry, it is only available for about two more weeks!

Fact Magazine says this about the mix:
Rob and Sean (Sean Booth and Rob Brown, red.) - who we interviewed in-depth in 2008 - have declined to talk about the mix itself, telling us that "it's just some tunes [they] like". No tracklist either, so spotters, please do you worst. What we can tell you is that the mix is an unpredictable, kaleidoscopic affair, rooted in sinuous leftfield hip-hop but with bursts of tremulous ambient electronics, techno, hectic breakbeats and, at one particularly memorable point, metal. We needn't tell you how rare recorded DJ-mixes from Autechre are, so please, don't sleep on this.

There are still a few tickets left for the first Autechre live performance in Copenhagen ever - get them at Billetnet - they are only dkr. 200, what are you waiting for?!

AUTECHRE live in Copenhagen!

Together with DR, CPH PIX and artFREQ Strøm are proud to present none less than british electronic pioneers AUTECHRE live in Copenhagen on April 2nd 2010!

It has been a long struggle to get this into place - but it is now a fact. The concert will take place at the foyer stage at the DR concerthall, Koncerthuset, a venue that was recently awarded with the Wallpaper Design Award for best public building, so prepare yourself for an extraordinary experience in all ways.

For those of you who might not know Autechre, I can toss the following facts;
Formed in 1987, the duo are one of the most prominent acts signed with Warp Records (one of my personal favorite labels, releasing among others Battles, Aphex Twin, !!!, Broadcast etc.); a label known for its pioneering electronic music and through which all Autechre albums have been released.
While most associated with IDM (aka intelligent dance music), Sean Booth and Rob Brown are ambivalent in relating their sound to established genres. Their music has exhibited a gradual shift in aesthetic throughout their career, from their earlier work with clear roots in techno, electro and hip hop to later albums that are often considered more experimental in nature, featuring complex patterns of rhythm and subdued melodies.

Their 10th album, "Oversteps" will be in stores March 2010.

As the icing on this magnificent cake, Autechre will be backed up by three dj's from Warp; Rob Hall, Russel Haswell and Didjitt.

It is the first time ever Autechre is playing live in Copenhagen, tickets are only dkr. 200 and you can get them at Billetnet - go go go!
